What does FSC certification mean?

FSC, or Forest Stewardship Council, is an international non-profit organization that promotes responsible forest management. How does FSC certification work for printing companies?

To produce FSC-certified products, a printing company must implement a so-called Chain of Custody system, which ensures traceability of all raw materials used. The certification is regularly audited by the independent organization Preferred by Nature. FSC-printed products can carry labels such as FSC 100%, FSC Mix, or FSC Recycled, reflecting the composition of the material used.
